What temperature should a thermostat open to, and what happens if it fails?
Thermostats typically open around 80-110°C, depending on the vehicle. If a thermostat is stuck closed, the engine can overheat, causing damage. If it’s stuck open, the engine may take too long to warm up (or may not reach normal operating temperature), hurting efficiency and heater performance.
